Product Focus
AEM's Bituminous & Aggregate Equipment Bureau (BAEB) is composed of manufacturers of equipment used in the asphalt
paving, compaction and aggregate processing industries.
Mission
BAEB provides manufacturers a forum to address pertinent technological questions, environmental, legislative and
regulatory issues, and promotes important projects to the asphalt industry. BAEB also works closely with the
National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) on industry issues and user concerns.
Bureau Activities
The Bureau's standing technical committee, the Compaction & Paving Machinery Technical Committee (CPMTC), focuses
on product design, safety, equipment nomenclature/terminology and other issues relating to rollers, compactors, cold
planers, soil stabilizers, asphalt pavers an related equipment.
The Road Machinery Statistics Committee of BAEB provides detailed statistical
reporting programs for member companies in the North American market. Compaction equipment manufacturers
participate in a monthly exchange of data with Japanese and European manufacturers through the Intercontinental
Statistical Committee.
Statistics
BAEB operates four sets of market statistical programs for its varied product lines:
- Asphalt Pavers: Monthly retail sales in seven size classifications by county for US and Canada, plus monthly shipments by state, province and countries of the world.
- Cold Planers: Monthly retail sales in five size classifications by state and province, plus monthly shipments by state, province and Mexico by state.
- Soil Stabilizers: Monthly retail in three size classifications by county for US and Canada, plus monthly shipments by state, province and Mexico by state.
- Compaction Equipment: Monthly retail sales for nine product lines in various sizes by county for US and Canada, plus monthly shipments by state and province and Countries of the World through AEM’s Intercontinental Statistical Exchange service.
The Compaction Equipment program also conducts a specification sheet exchange.
