The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) "Summary of State Manufacturer-Dealer Laws" is a compendium of
selected state statutes relating to the contractual relationships between equipment dealers and manufacturers. A brief
summary of a state's code provisions are followed by the pertinent state statutes. AEM has compiled this information as a
benefit and service to its members consistent with AEM's not-for-profit and tax-exempt status.
This compendium should not be viewed as offering an absolute determination of a state's laws covering the contractual
relationships between equipment dealers and manufacturers, but rather as a simplified summarization of a body of law
which is exceedingly detailed and often inconclusive in its application to a specific product. Many of these statutes
have been the subjects of extensive litigation. However any such judicial interpretation is not covered in this 50-State
Legislative Review. Similarly, state Attorney General Opinions of the meaning of a particular Code provision is not
included in this compendium. A thorough analysis of the applicable Code provisions in a particular state, by an attorney
familiar with a state's Code should be made before any final decision is made concerning the application of Code
provisions to a specific product. While the statutes provided in this database are believed to be current, state Code
provisions change from year to year and will accordingly be periodically updated. It is therefore necessary that AEM
expressly disclaims any liability for the completeness of the information contained in this compendium of laws affecting
highway use by farm tractors and other agricultural equipment or for any legal conclusions which might be drawn therefrom.
The Code provisions for each State are intended solely as an initial data source for the reader and covers abridged
sections of a state's Code. The Code provisions will be updated on a periodic basis.
The contents of this compendium of laws are solely for informational purposes and any use thereof or reliance thereon is
at the sole and independent discretion and responsibility of the reader.
