AEM Updates Skid Steer Safety Manual
New Bilingual Spanish-English Version Also Available
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has updated its skid steer safety manual and now also offers the manual in a convenient bilingual Spanish-English version. The manual is designed for operators, maintenance personnel and other job site workers involved with skid steer loaders, and has been updated to cover track type as well as wheeled machines.
Skid steer loader manufacturers worked in a cooperative effort through AEM’s Compact Loader/Compact Excavator Council to research and develop the manual.
The AEM Skid Steer Safety Manual uses easy-to-understand text and illustrations and a “do’s and don’ts” format to aid understanding. The material focuses on typical daily situations on the work site involving the normal operation and maintenance of skid steer loaders and offers sensible suggestions for dealing with these conditions.
Content of the manual includes general safety tips concerning the workplace and equipment, start-up and shutdown guidelines, and operating and maintenance precautions. The information is intended to supplement, not replace, manufacturer operating manuals. The manual is ideal for group safety sessions on the job or in the classroom as well as individual usage.
AEM has produced more than 50 product-specific safety manuals and videos. The association initiated its safety-tools program more than 35 years ago to provide effective, job-proven and time-tested suggestions for promoting safety-conscious attitudes and performance. In addition to accident prevention, benefits include improved worker productivity and less equipment downtime for repairs.
The association’s safety manuals, videos and related educational materials are available from the AEM Store online at www.aem.org. For more information, contact AEM's Richard Dressler (414-298-4132).
