Helping Equipment Disposal Planning
 Closer rental company/manufacturer relationships could help rental companies plan for equipment disposal by clueing them into manufacturers' product lifecycle plans, according to some roundtable participants.
If a rental company knew, for example, that a manufacturer had scant development plans for a specific product for the next three years, the rental company could plan on keeping that product in service. If, on the other hand, a rental company knew innovations were just around the bend for a product, it could start getting rid of that equipment.
A rental company's leverage in a relationship with its supplier may also help it bring specialized products to market, with a manufacturer perhaps making a product design available exclusively to a particular rental company.
