Popular Headline News Service Enhances Format, Increases Frequency
Since its launch nearly a year ago, CIMA's Construction Industry News Network (CINN) has become
a popular service among news-hungry executives.
CINN, located on the Association's CIMAnet website, summarizes news stories on over 20 key topics and issues, and provides links to
the websites where executives can view the entire stories.
CIMA
recently redesigned the CINN Web page to provide visitors with a more powerful "at a glance" view of the latest news stories,
in chronological order, plus topic and keyword searches.
Some of these features formerly required users to click through to other pages; all of them are now centralized on a single, powerful
news portal page.
This enhanced page also contains links that help executives to add CINN to their browser's bookmarks or "favorites" list, as
well as make CINN their browser's home page. The goal, according to CIMA's Chuck Frey, is to make CINN a valuable "go to"
resource for members, or anyone who needs access to comprehensive industry news.
A companion service, CINN Headline News, provides CIMA members who subscribe to an e-mail list
with news headlines, organized by topic, with links to the article summaries on the CIMAnet site.
Over 440 CIMA member executives have subscribed to CINN Headline News since it was launched last August.
"Members really love the fact that news headlines are delivered to them, and it's up to them which topics and stories they want to
click through to," explains CIMA's Chuck Frey. "They tell us that this arrangement gives them the information they need,
without overwhelming them with data.
CIMA recently increased the frequency of these e-mail messages from two to three days a week, to reduce the number of headlines in each
issue and to deliver the headlines on a more timely basis.
