CIMA Earns Grant To Promote Careers Website
Association's effort to link manufacturers with local schools cited as a key factor in the award.
CIMA has won a grant from the Manufacturing Industries Career Alliance (MICA) School-to-Career initiative to fund a program promoting
the new ConstructMyFuture website as a resource for school counselors working with 15-19 year old students as well as teachers in
vocational education programs.
CIMA's grant was one of seven awarded by the program, which is funded by the School-to-Work Office of the U.S. Departments of Education
and Labor to connect schools and workplaces, enhancing learning and career opportunities in manufacturing.
CIMA won the grant for supporting employers by providing students, parents, and educators access to construction-careers information via
the ConstructMyFuture website.
CIMA's Nicole Ketchman notes, "It's our responsibility to get the word out about the quality and variety of careers in the
construction industry, and we're going to have to stand up for ourselves and scream to do it. This grant will let us use a bigger
megaphone to promote the construction industry."
