Latin America Update
The latest Association activities targeting the Latin America marketplace included May and June visits to several South American
countries to assist with member distribution efforts and continue an informational exchange with key South American industry and
governmental contacts.
Countries on the itinerary: Argentina (Buenos Aires), Brazil (Sao Paulo), Chile (Santiago), Ecuador (Guayaquil) and Peru (Lima). A
September/October visit will include stops in Chile, Panama and Venezuela.
Business Development Contacts |
|
A key business development tool CIMA provides
to help members expand into the Latin America marketplace is its distributor matchmaking service.
The Association does the background and set-up
work of searching, screening and setting appointments to help companies find the appropriate distributor match.
A recent example: CIMA organized a search for Thompson Pump and accompanied them on a May visit to meet with
potential distributors in Chile, Ecuador and Peru.

Exhibit Opportunities
CIMA representatives are also participating in a number of South American construction equipment trade shows, to expand regional
industry contacts and also promote the CIMA co-produced CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2002 exposition to prospective attendees.
The June visit included participation in FEMATEC (Argentina). In September/ October the focus is on Expo Capac in Panama City, Panama;
Expo Hormigon in Santiago, Chile; and Construya/ Vivienda in Caracas, Venezuela.
CIMA is also gearing up for its inaugural International Exhibits Pavilion at the M&T Expo in Sao Paulo, Brazil in September (see
related story page 9).
At M&T CIMA will conduct a contractor focus group to obtain first-hand knowledge of issues and trends affecting the Brazilian
construction equipment marketplace. Another focus group is also planned for the Construya/ Vivienda show in Venezuela in October.
Americas Exchange
Also in the works, an "Americas Exchange" technical seminar in Chile during the Expo Hormigon show, where member companies in
the concrete industry can present product capabilities information to show attendees.
