M&T Expo: CIMA Pavilion Offers Brazilian Market Opportunities
CIMA has targeted important regional trade shows like M&T Expo in September in Brazil as
a major component of the Association's initiatives to help member companies succeed in the Latin American marketplace.
CIMA anticipates some 15 to 20 companies will participate in its 430- sq.-meter indoor pavilion and 136-sq.-meter outdoor exhibit at the
exposition, set for September 18-22 in Sao Paulo at the Imigrantes Exhibition Center.
| Importance of Brazil and
Latin America |
| With the increased globalization of the
construction equipment industry, Latin America has emerged as an important marketplace for U.S. construction
equipment manufacturers.M&T is one of the largest and most important construction equipment expositions in the
region, notes CIMA's Arnold Huerta, making it a good fit for manufacturers wanting to expand into Brazil and the
surrounding area. "With the strong possibility of a Free Trade of the Americas Agreement in the next few years,
companies need to be in a good position to take advantage of less restrictions on trade," explains Huerta. See

Services Planned
At M&T, in addition to its exhibits pavilion, CIMA and its members will take part in a variety of activities designed to strengthen
both immediate and long-term relationships with members of the increasingly important Brazilian equipment market, including technical
presentations, a contractor focus group and a news conference on CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2002.
Technical Presentations
Along with the high visibility provided by exhibiting in the CIMA exhibits pavilion at M&T Expo, participants will also have the
opportunity to make technical presentations on their products to show attendees to highlight their equipment's latest technological
advances and the capabilities that these advances provide.
Contractor Focus Group
CIMA will also use its presence at the M&T Expo to strengthen its cooperative relationship with M&T organizers, SOBRATEMA, as
well as strengthening connections between CIMA members and their Latin American customers.
CIMA and SOBRATEMA will host a contractor focus group session with Brazilian contractors to get their opinions on various issues in the
Brazilian construction industry and its relationship with U.S. equipment manufacturers.
CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2002
There will also be a news conference and reception at M&T to present information on CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2002 to members of the Brazilian
media and others.
CIMA is also helping the Latin American focused export efforts of its members in other ways, including technical sales seminars,
contractor surveys, distributor searches, and product specific market research, all designed to promote a greater understanding of the
Brazilian and Latin American marketplace and foster interaction with prospective customers.
