Customer Profile Surveys
CIMA is conducting two new surveys that will reach thousands of equipment customers across a broad spectrum of contracting, rental, dealer and other industry segments to help member manufacturers better understand their customers.
Buying Intentions
A buying intentions survey will focus on current and future product purchasing decisions as well as other fleet information on machinery buyers, and cover new, used and rental equipment.
With the fluctuation in business expectations over the past year, it's more difficult for members to get an accurate picture of the future. The CIMA survey aims to provide them with a better gauge of what's happening in the marketplace in late 2001 and next year.
The survey may be expanded to a quarterly basis, similar to the Association's "industry conditions" survey of manufacturers.
Conducting Business with Manufacturers
A second survey will query equipment customers on how they want to conduct business in the future with manufacturers, with results to be presented at the CIMA Annual Conference in November.
This survey will give manufacturers a broader picture by market segment of the expectations of their customers in areas such as e-commerce, product support, dealer networks, training opportunities and operator certification, among other issues.
The aim is to provide manufacturers with data that assists their future business planning in areas including call-center development, 800-numbers and usage of credit cards for service calls, for example.
