AEM to Guide Highway/Airport Market Expansion Coalition
With the reauthorization of the federal-aid highway and airport programs due in 2003, AEM has been tapped to participate in a leadership position to build consensus on these two important federal transportation programs.
ATM's goals are straightforward: to ensure that all money collected for transportation systems is spent on its intended purpose and to streamline the approval process and clear away regulatory roadblocks.

AEM has joined the management team of the Americans for Transportation Mobility (ATM), a business-labor coalition to restore the nation's transportation systems. ATM is chaired by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Besides AEM, the ATM Management Committee includes the Associated General Contractors of America, the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, the American Public Transportation Association, the National Asphalt Pavement Association, the Laborers International Union of North America, the International Union of Operating Engineers, Air Transport Association and Waterway Works. More than 200 other organizations have also joined the Coalition.
Federal Funding for Transportation

ATMs goals are straightforward: to ensure that all money collected for transportation systems is spent on its intended purpose and to streamline the approval process and clear away regulatory roadblocks.
Clearly, the success of this effort will directly benefit equipment manufacturers, states Nick Yaksich, AEM Vice President of Government Affairs. Yaksich will represent AEM on the ATMs Management Committee.
Meeting with Congressional Leaders
The ATM Management Committee recently met with congressional leaders to urge spending existing infrastructure funds in any stimulus package. Slater stated, It is consistent with the ATM goals that collected highway user fees are available to build and improve the safety of our transportation systems and create jobs.
