Event donates $50,000-plus to September 11 scholarship fund
AEM was among several industry associations contributing to a $51,600 donation to the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund, which provides financial support for post secondary education to families who suffered direct losses in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Also contributing were ACPA, ARTBA, NAPA and NSSGA.
Members of the associations had planned to attend the industrys first joint legislative fly-in in Washington September 19-20, 2001, but the event was postponed until February 5-6, 2002, in the wake of the September 11 attacks.
Several members of ACPA, AEM, ARTBA, NAPA and NSSGA who had already registered for the event suggested their registration fees be donated to assist victims of the attacks. The donation option was presented to all registrants and they responded enthusiastically. In addition to the registration fees, the $51,600 total includes donations from each of the sponsoring associations.
Construction equipment manufacturers are pleased to support this industry effort to advance the educational needs of families whose lives have been so tragically disrupted by the September 11 attacks, noted AEM in offering its donation. Our youth are our future as a strong nation and a strong industry. This is one more example of our industrys commitment to build and maintain a strong America and world.
