The AEM Board of Directors has elected Ronald DeFeo, Chairman and CEO of Terex Corp., as Chairman to fill the vacancy occurring with the
resignation earlier this year of 2003 Chairman David Woods from Charles Machine Works. DeFeo previously was First Vice Chairman.
Second Vice Chairman Charles Stamp, Vice President Public Affairs Worldwide for Deere and Co., has been elected First Vice Chairman.
Gerald Shaheen, Group President of Caterpillar Inc., has been elected to fill the office of Second Vice Chairman.
The election included a recommendation regarding length of the terms for these officers. If the slate had simply moved up and served the
remaining months of 2003, DeFeo, Stamp and Shaheen would have had shorter terms than usual. The recommended procedure is to lengthen
the Chairman term for 2003 and 2004 and resume the regular October/November cycle in 2005.
