CIFES agreement signed: AEM to help manage leading Canadian ag trade show

February 8-11, 2005
Toronto, Ontario

CIFES LogoAEM has negotiated an agreement with the owner of the Canadian International Farm Equipment Show (CIFES) which will give the association a key managing role in the exposition, which is one of the leading agricultural machinery shows in Canada.

Under the agreement, AEM members will receive reduced exhibit space rates and discounts on exhibit show sponsorship opportunities.

An AEM member company representative will also chair a new steering committee charged with overall show planning, including show promotion, dates/hours, space rates, floor plan layout and special show features. In addition, several AEM member company and staff representatives will serve as committee members.

CIFES is held annually in Toronto, ON and typically attracts 40,000 attendees as well as 600 exhibitors taking 370,000 square feet of space to display the latest equipment and technology to improve farm productivity. CIFES is among the largest shows of any industry in Canada.

AEM signed the agreement with the show’s new owner, dmg world media (Canada) inc., and it is effective beginning with the 2005 exposition (February 8-11, 2005).

Conference Planned

The agreement is an enhancement of the long-term partnership between the show’s previous owner and the Canadian Farm and Industrial Equipment Institute (CFIEI), which was incorporated into AEM on January 1, 2004.

The new arrangement is for a longer term (nine years, renewable in three-year segments) than the previous year-to-year arrangement, allowing more continuity for show planning.

Under the agreement, AEM will support development of an educational conference held in conjunction with the show to help grow attendance.

CIFES is one of the shows targeted by AEM in its “ag trade show strategy,” which seeks to broaden the influence of the association in ag equipment exposition planning for the benefit of member exhibitors (see related story).
