Update: China office initiatives
Organizing technical seminars and trade show exhibits pavilions as well as planning a delegation of Chinese equipment buyers to the U.S. have been major activities of AEM and its China office during the first months of 2004. Other action to showcase U.S. equipment manufacturers to Chinese customers has targeted machinery safety promotion.
Equipment Demo Planned
The association’s technical seminars offer an opportunity for members to present their company and product capabilities to a select group of influential Chinese equipment specifiers and buyers.
A new value-added feature for an AEM technical seminar planned for September is a field demonstration of members’ equipment.
Safety Manual Dissemination
AEM’s Kaien Li traveled to China in February to meet with the Chinese Construction Machinery Association, a manufacturers’ group, to discuss a cooperative effort to produce and disseminate AEM Chinese-language safety manuals to Chinese job site personnel.
“This new service shows U.S. equipment manufacturers to be committed to safe machine operation,” noted Li.
Trade Delegation to U.S.
While in China, Li met with the Ministry of Water Resources to review preliminary plans to bring a delegation of leading Chinese contractors to the U.S. later this year to visit members’ manufacturing plants and discuss equipment capabilities and options.
AEM in 2003 worked with the ministry and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to facilitate a trade delegation of officials from a major Chinese water-diversion infrastructure project to the U.S. The Chinese trade officials toured member manufacturing plants throughout the Midwest.
CONEXPO-CON/AGG Targeted
While in China, Li also met with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) to explore the sponsorship of a Chinese delegation to the CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2005 exposition.
