AEM continues its Latin America in-country liaison activities in 2004 to provide members with first-hand information about industry trends and potential customers’ buying habits. The focus: meetings with key agriculture and construction groups in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico.
Ag Markets in Argentina
In March the association participated in Expo Chacra, which is one of the largest agricultural trade shows in Latin America.
AEM had a booth at the event, held in San Nicholas, Argentina (outside of Buenos Aires), and also met with show officials to discuss opportunities for an AEM exhibits pavilion and other avenues for members to reach the Latin American agriculture marketplace.
“Our presence at this important show is helping establish AEM as the ‘brand leader’ for the U.S. equipment manufacturing industry and a bona fide and respected industry partner,” noted the association’s Arnold Huerta.
Brazil and Chile Plans
In addition to Argentina, Huerta traveled to Brazil to meet with ag-related associations and government groups. The outreach is part of the association’s strategy to develop strong working relationships with reliable sources of market intelligence on industry trends and equipment sales opportunities in the region.
To strengthen this regional contact network, AEM’s plans include a May trip to Brazil for a mining show (Equipos 2004) and to Chile for a construction show (Expo Construccion 2004).
During the Brazil-Chile trip, the association will also obtain market updates from construction market sources such as the Chilean Construction Chamber and local AEM contacts in Brazil.
A June/July trip to Mexico is scheduled to maintain and develop market contacts and to discuss plans for a fall focus group of Mexican equipment customers.
