AEM has expanded its informational public policy resources available online to help members keep up to date on important legislative and regulatory activities affecting their businesses, and to provide an avenue to take action and communicate their views to government officials (www.aem.org/Govt).
The resources include a database of pending state legislation and regulations, a dealer law database, newsletters, issues briefs with links to additional resources, and a variety of public policy news updates.
Informational Issues Briefs
Major issues briefs in the expanded resources section include:
- International topics, including free trade agreements, unfair trade practices, international standards concerns and Iraq/Afghanistan reconstruction information;
- Federal topics, including transportation funding, asbestos litigation reform, exporter/manufacturing tax reform, health care issues and estate tax repeal;
- State topics, including dealer/contract issues, lighting and marking standards, noise control regulations and streamlined sales tax reforms.
The online resources include a “call to action” section for members to become more involved in their association’s public policy activities, to help shape the equipment manufacturing industry messages that AEM communicates to governmental leaders.
