Technical Update
Global technical, regulatory opportunities explored
Common technical challenges as well as standards and regulations impacting worldwide construction equipment manufacturing were on the agenda of recent meetings of the international technical community in Munich, Germany: the 14th International Joint Technical Liaison Committee meeting and 8th International Crane Technical Liaison Committee meeting.
European Safety Standards
AEM and member representatives participated in the two meetings, representing the U.S. The association’s Power Crane and Shovel Association (PCSA) hosted the crane group. AEM is a founding member of the two committees.
A key discussion item for the broader-based technical group was European construction safety standards (pr EN474) and their acceptance as international standards.
Topics addressed by both groups included updates on the European Union Noise Directives and engine emissions.
