Technical Update
New safety manuals
The association has produced a new safety manual for both walk-behind and ride-on concrete power trowels of varying sizes, power ranges and power sources. The AEM Concrete Power Trowels Safety Manual was developed by the association’s Troweling Machine Manufacturers Bureau (TMMB).
The 24-page safety manual provides sensible do’s and don’ts featuring typical daily situations on the job site, with messages presented in clear readable text and illustrations for easy comprehension. Among the topics covered are safe loading, unloading and transportation, start-up and shut down, site preparation, precautions against carbon monoxide poisoning in enclosed areas, operating on an elevated deck and safe equipment maintenance.
A Spanish translation of the AEM safety manual for compact excavators is now also available.
Other Manuals Under Development
AEM product groups are also working on new safety manuals for construction pneumatic tools, forwarders used in forestry, and vacuum excavators as well as an update to the cold planer/soil stabilizer manual.
All association safety manuals are available through the online AEM bookstore in the Safety and Training area of www.aem.org.
