Orientation Sessions Strengthen Member Awareness of High Value of Member Services

Are you searching for a distributor in Brazil? Wondering how others structure warranty policies? Need information on the latest developments in ISO standards? Participants in a recent AEM member orientation session learned about these and many other valuable services available at no additional cost beyond their membership dues.

One of AEM’s strategic goals is to have fully engaged members. Among the ways AEM is working to achieve that goal is to offer membership orientation sessions that help the full range of member company personnel become more aware of the many services AEM offers and how to take advantage of them.

Paul Malek, AEM membership director, urged those present to use the many association resources they have coming that are included in their membership dues. With just a few limited exceptions, such as trade shows and education seminars (which however have member discounts), all AEM services are covered by AEM membership dues.

He noted that AEM staff are always available to help members find the association services that best fit their needs. Each service page on the AEM website at www.aem.org has the AEM staff contact information for that specific area listed in the lower right-hand corner. In addition, a complete list of AEM staff categorized by service/department can be viewed online.

Jim Wessing, president of Kondex Corporation and a member of the AEM Board of Directors and Ag Sector Board, welcomed the group and noted that the value of AEM services gives members “a real advantage” in operating their companies. Whether it’s trade show space discounts, legislative advocacy, market intelligence or networking with peers at AEM events, the cost of membership versus benefits really pays off, Wessing said.

A total of 19 members from 15 companies took part in the half-day orientation session, held at AEM headquarters in Milwaukee. Fast-paced presentations from AEM staff covered key areas including market intelligence; safety, regulatory and technical services; statistics; advocacy and legislation; global business development; trade shows; meetings and education; and the AEM website.

Universally positive comments from participants at the end of the session included: “Great overview,” “Opportunities I did not know about,” “Well-planned presentation,” and “Very informative.”

For member convenience, membership orientation sessions are scheduled for regional locations as well as in conjunction with other AEM events and trade shows. Looking ahead, a session has been scheduled during the AEM annual meeting during the afternoon of November 9.
