Telsmith Raises Its Voice in Support of Infrastructure, Pro-Manufacturing Policies

Tom Petri greets employees
at Telsmith during a recent visit.
Telsmith Inc. understood the importance of the I Make America campaign early on and continues to raise its voice in support of long-term infrastructure investment and policies that promote the well-being of equipment manufacturers in the U.S.
Because of these efforts, Telsmith, an Astec Industries company, is the most recent AEM member company to achieve elite Gold-Level status in the I Make America campaign.
“Our company has been a strong supporter of I Make America from day one,” said Caitlin Krieger, marketing coordinator at Telsmith. “We utilized ballot drop boxes which easily allowed employees to register for the IMA campaign during work hours. This is what launched the spark of interest within our company.”
“We commend Telsmith for achieving Gold status in the I Make America campaign,” said AEM President Dennis Slater. “As an AEM member, Telsmith exemplifies the commitment we need from all manufacturers around the country to send the message to Congress and the White House that our economy is in urgent need of a new manufacturing policy that will create jobs.”
Rep. Tom Petri Visits Telsmith
As part of its support for the I Make America campaign, Telsmith hosted Rep. Tom Petri (R-WI) at the company’s facility in Mequon, Wisconsin, on October 23, 2012. Petri is a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. During the Congressman’s visit, Rick Patek, Telsmith president and Astec Industries group vice president, aggregate & mining, and Matt Haven, Telsmith executive vice president & general manager, presented figures showing Telsmith’s impact on state and local economies, such as wages and taxes paid, and capital and local spending.
They advocated for a long-term highway bill and the need for Congress to pass pro-manufacturing policies. The visit concluded with a plant tour and an opportunity for Petri to speak with Telsmith employees.
