AEM Plays Active Role in Achieving Three of Top 10 2012 Legislative Victories

AEM’s government affairs team played an active leadership role in three of the top 10 legislative victories of 2012 as identified by The Hill newspaper this week.

One of the David vs. Goliath efforts was the “Coalition to Save Our GPS” victory over experienced lobbying teams hired by LightSquared to build a huge broadband network.

AEM, working with Trimble, Garmin, Deere, Caterpillar, CNH and other allies, mobilized a
broad-based grassroots effort founded on interference concerns with the LightSquared proposal. The interference concerns were later backed by Department of Defense and other government agency testing.

Other AEM legislative victories cited by The Hill were the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank and passage of Russia PNTR.

AEM has seen many legislative victories this year as a result of advocacy efforts on behalf of member companies and will continue to work hard to have an even stronger year in 2013.
