I’ve been associated with AEM in various capacities since 1997, and I’m honored to serve as AEM Chair for 2013. The association does a great many things, but really has one driving purpose – to help manufacturers in the equipment industry be more successful in their business. We support the industry by delivering superior services in public policy advocacy, market information, trade shows, technical and safety services, education and market support.
Just like our members, AEM is constantly looking to improve, and has taken significant action to change and improve our business model in recent years. We’ve implemented a new and improved governance structure. We’ve defined six key results areas and set high-level goals that we’ve shared with the membership.
The strategy and the goals that drive it are now in place – so now is the time to execute for results. During my time as Chair, I want to focus on fully executing the strategic initiatives approved last year and now being implemented, to help make AEM even more effective for association members. In 2013, I’m going to focus specifically on two areas:
- Strategy Execution: To fully execute in 2013 the strategic initiatives approved and implemented in 2012 to achieve the stated goals of the AEM Strategic Plan for the new financial model, advocacy and membership needs based on the member survey results.
- New Strategic Initiatives: To successfully implement the Strategic Plan initiatives approved by the AEM Board for 2013 in member engagement, market information services and the global business development plan.
AEM is accountable to you for results. You will receive an update regularly in the Advisor and a full report at the AEM Annual Conference, November 3-5, 2013 in Orlando Florida.
I look forward to working with our AEM members and aligned associations to address the challenges we all face as manufacturers in an increasingly global economy. We have a diverse membership made up of more than 890 companies representing 200+ product lines. Our members range from small to very large, but we all face similar challenges. I look forward to leveraging our collaborative partnership to make a difference for all of us. Our collective strength can have a real impact if we work together.
Let me conclude by saying THANK YOU! Thank you for your passion for manufacturing. Thank you for your engagement on public policy issues. Thank you for your willingness to work with your fellow manufacturers to make a difference. Thank you for being a member of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.
I look forward to serving you in 2013.
