Ag Sector Board Sanctions New Services
Evolution and introduction of AEM Services continues through the new governance structure of AEM. At the March 14 Ag Sector Board meeting, two important new services were recommended to the AEM Board.

Canadian Pesticide Regulatory Agency Limits Choice of Planters
Recently Canada’s Pesticide Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) released a set of “best management practice” recommendations for farmers to follow as they seek to limit drift of fugitive dust from pneumatic planters that may cause damage to honey bees. Unfortunately, these recommendations encourage farmers to use positive air pressure planters in lieu of negative air systems. PMRA made this recommendation despite a lack of scientific data to support their conclusions and in spite of AEM’s efforts to educate the agency on industry’s activities to address this environmental concern.

Not many of us can say that we’re doing exactly what we aspired to do when we set out on our career paths. Ron Roglis, HCC, Inc. Marketing and Sales Manager, is one of those rare people. Ron earned his Associates at Lakeland College in Mattoon, IL, BS in Marketing from Eastern Illinois University, Masters in Business Administration from the University of Illinois in Springfield with the goal of a career in sales and marketing that would grant him the freedom to follow his instincts and develop his own concepts. His position at HCC allows him to do just that.

MI Special Report: Farm Income Outlook
Net farm income is forecast to be $128.2 billion in 2013, up nearly 14 percent from 2012, according to the USDA. After adjusting for inflation, 2013’s net farm income is expected to be the highest since 1973. Net cash income is forecast to be down close to 9%, at $123.5 billion, however still a historically high value. Net cash income doesn’t account for capital consumption, change in inventories, and non-money income. Both values are well above 10-year averages.

Global Opportunities for Equipment Manufacturers Created by Ag Electronics Efforts, Alliance Says
The Agrievolution Alliance has endorsed work on an ag electronics communication standard that will create more global opportunities and efficiencies for agriculture equipment manufacturers.
Agrievolution Alliance, a global coalition of agriculture equipment manufacturing associations, has published a white paper supporting the work of the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) on a worldwide ag electronics communication standard, primarily between tractors and implements. AEM serves as the secretariat for Agrievolution Alliance.
