Congress must reauthorize the Export-Import Bank in the coming weeks, and AEM is urging legislators to approve reauthorization, with an increased exposure cap to allow more U.S. small and medium-sized businesses to benefit from bank services.

In highway-bill support action during the last few days, AEM rallied I Make America (IMA) supporters to make their voices heard, called on Senate leadership to discourage non-germane amendments and distributed an IMA graphic for Facebook use.

AEM Mentioned as Senate Committee Passes Fully-Funded Two-Year Highway Bill
This week the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee took up the bill known as "Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century," or MAP 21, which provides for a two-year extension of the Highway Bill. This is a major victory for our industry as it maintains funding at current levels.

Congress Actually Passes a Bill with Overwhelming Bipartisan Support: Highway Bill Extended for 6 Months
The Senate last night followed earlier House action by approving a six month highway bill extension. The current program expires at the end of the month. Despite pressures to reduce overall funding levels, the extension maintains current 2011 funding levels, a significant victory for the industry in a very difficult budget environment.

House Clears “Boeing” Bill
The House of Representatives yesterday also approved the Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act, H.R. 2587 sponsored by Rep. Tim Scott. The legislation was introduced in response to the National Labor Relations Board's action against Boeing for opening a new production facility in South Carolina.
