Alliance Overview
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) entered into an alliance with the US Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). MSHA's new alliance program enables organizations committed to mine safety and health to collaborate with MSHA to prevent injuries and illnesses in the workplace. MSHA and its allies work together to reach out to, educate, and lead the nation's mine operators and miners in improving and advancing mine safety and health.
The focus of MSHA's alliance program is to partner with industry groups to prevent fatalities, injuries and illnesses in America's mines through training and education, outreach and communication, technical assistance and promoting the national dialog on mine safety and health.
This Alliance joins the technical expertise of manufacturers of mining equipment that of MSHA. MSHA's alliance program is national in scope.
MSHA Alliance Agreement
On January 23rd, 2007, AEM and the US Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) joined forces in an alliance intended to promote safety in the mining industry. The Alliance agreement was signed by AEM's President, Dennis Slater, and MSHA's Assistant Secretary, Mr. Richard Stickler. The AEM / MSHA Alliance is initially focusing on promoting the use of operator restraints while using mining equipment. For more information, click on the following links:
Buckle Up...For Life Presentation

Pictorial Database
AEM membership developed a database of industry-recognized hazard and hazard avoidance pictorials to convey safety messages. OSHA / AEM Agreement
On October 1st, 2007 the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) formed the AEM / OSHA Alliance to promote jobsite safety. This alliance joins the technical expertise of the manufacturers with the communication and administrative expertise of OSHA. The AEM / OSHA Alliance is initially focusing on the safe operation of rough-terrain forklifts. AEM and OSHA participated in a formal signing ceremony in which AEM's President, Dennis Slater, and OSHA's Assistant Secretary of Labor, Edwin G. Foulke Jr., sealed the AEM / OSHA Alliance agreement.
