IPR conditions in developing countries such as China and India remain daunting. Aspects of intellectual property rights, trademark counterfeiting and copyright piracy are still rampant, largely due to an inadequate enforcement regime.


The Obama administration continues to address IPR issue bilaterally with China and India’s newly elected government, as well as multilaterally at the WTO.


AEM continues to lobby and communicate members’ concerns with IPR infringement and is actively engaged in the business coalition Alliance for Fair Trade with India (AFTI), a group advocating for better trade practices with India.
