AEM Weighs in on Mexico Supply Chain Disruptions

U.S.-MexicoDue to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, equipment manufacturers continue to face facility closures and supply chain disruptions in Mexico. Last week, the Mexican government issued a decree to gradually reopen facilities deemed essential for automobile manufacturing. However, so far the equipment manufacturing industry has not been included. AEM is advocating for changes to Mexico’s closure orders and continues to engage government and industry stakeholders on both sides of the border.

If you are negatively impacted by supply chain disruptions, have your Mexican suppliers and subsidiaries contact their local government officials to ask them directly to re-open facilities on a case-by-case basis emphasizing measures undertaken to protect the health and safety of facility workers during the pandemic.

AEM is providing member company testimonials to senior government officials highlighting the ongoing damage to our industry and Mexico’s economy. As the Mexican government decides which manufacturing facilities to reopen, it’s crucial they have this information.
