OntarioAEM was at Queens Park last week discussing the equipment manufacturing industry’s top public policy priorities in Ontario.

The meeting was attended by Premier Doug Ford, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health & Long-Term Care Christine Elliot, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines Greg Rickford, and Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade Todd Smith. AEM’s Alex Russ expressed gratitude for initiating comprehensive regulatory reform, as well as opposing recently introduced Right to Repair legislation in the province.

Premier Ford discussed his ongoing plans to make “Ontario Open for Business” by eliminating duplicitous regulations, streamlining construction and mining permitting, and incentivizing additional investment throughout the province. Specifically, AEM has been asked to provide the government a list of current regulations that should be reviewed for update or removal.

If a regulation is impacting your business in Ontario, please contact Alex Russ at aruss@aem.org or 202-898-9006.
