Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) President Dennis Slater made the following statement regarding today’s introduction of bipartisan, bicameral Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation:

I applaud today's introduction of The Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015 (TPA-2015). This vital piece of legislation allows the president to send comprehensive trade agreements promoting American manufacturing directly to Congress for an up-or-down vote.

TPA would allow this administration or a future administration to tear down trade barriers and help equipment manufacturers establish new markets for their products abroad. It's a rare issue on which Republicans in Congress agree with President Obama, and lawmakers should move quickly to capitalize on this moment of bipartisan agreement.
