The first in a series of face-to-face events exclusively for AEM members will focus on additive manufacturing and how it could impact member businesses.
The session is set for May 4 at the U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory near Knoxville, Tennessee.
The event will kick off AEM’s new “Thinking Forward” series, designed to help members prepare for and manage critical challenges like big data, advanced manufacturing and a changing workforce.
A second event scheduled for May 9 at CNH Industrial in Burr Ridge, Illinois, will feature Dr. Larissa Suzuki, a Ph.D. in software systems engineering and smart cities at the University College of London. Dr. Suzuki will discuss how smart cities will touch construction in the form of leading indicator projects as well as their impact on agricultural development.
Both the objective of AEM's Thought Leadership KRA and the priorities set by the AEM Futures Council influenced the direction of the 2017 membership tour. The objective of the Thought Leadership KRA is to position AEM as a recognized and influential thought leader by articulating an industry vision and by keeping members informed about potential issues that could disrupt their business models and their industries.
As a result, each event will feature expert presentations on trends that the AEM Futures Council has identified as having near-term potential to impact manufacturers. Events will also include AG and CE market updates, member engagement breakouts for those who want or need more information on AEM services, peer-to-peer networking opportunities and facility tours.
“Our members have told us they want events that offer information and discussion on issues that are – or soon will be – affecting their businesses,” said Todd Stucke, Chair of the AEM Membership Committee and senior vice president, marketing, product support and strategic projects at Kubota Tractor Corporation.
“The ‘Thinking Forward’ series will take a look at what’s coming down the road and how members can get ready,” Stucke said.
