AEM Strategic Goals

Happy New Year and welcome to 2018! This year promises to bring both challenges and opportunities for the equipment manufacturing industry, and we at AEM look forward to another year of supporting the interests of you, our valued members.

As 2017 came to a close, we reported on our successes to achieve our goals. Now, we look forward to executing our 2018 goals to support our industry and your businesses.

In fact, a robust effort is already under way to implement our plans to achieve the Association’s 2018 goals and support the long-term direction set in our Strategic Plan. We keep these goals close at hand to guide our decisions and provide the best services and programs possible to serve our members.

I want you to keep our goals close, too. They can be viewed below, so there’s no doubt about what our priorities are for serving you.

Our ambitious 2018 goals are based on the Key Result Areas (KRAs) set forth in the Strategic Plan, as well as the goal of financials, membership and services. They are:

Advocacy Development: Expand the scope of AEM’s 2018 legislative and regulatory priorities to affect U.S. federal, state-level and Canada issues for greater membership representation. Specific areas of focus include expanding member engagement in state advocacy, implementing a Canadian advocacy plan, and increasing member participation in our I Make America campaign.

Thought Leadership: Position AEM as a recognized and influential thought leader by articulating an industry vision and by keeping its members informed about potential issues that could disrupt their business models and industries. More specifically, goals related to thought leadership include the ongoing development of AEM Thinking Forward thought leadership events and building on our content initiative to bring disruptive topics to our members.

Customer Connections: Optimize and evolve both AEM’s trade show model to deliver maximum return on investment/return on objectives to members and AEM’s show ownership positions in both construction and agriculture. AEM and partner exhibitions, the CONEXPO-CON/AGG 365 initiative and exhibitor engagement are among the areas of focus associated with the customer connections KRA.

Driving Data and Digital Direction: Influence and guide the implementation and flow of critical data within our industries to enable our members to be successful in the global marketplace. Areas of focus include AEM’s North America and South America Statistics Program, as well as market intelligence.

Ag and CE Sector Leadership: Unite the agriculture equipment and technology industry under the AEM brand to achieve a leadership position, and deliver value to construction equipment members through increased engagement, new technologies, end user knowledge and connections. Industry leadership, product group membership, engagement and satisfaction, as well as product safety and risk assessment, are all areas of focus related to this Strategic Plan KRA.

Financials, Membership and Services: Achieve the objectives set for the financial performance, membership and ongoing core services and activities of AEM. Key areas of focus include membership engagement, retention and recruitment, as well as financial results and management.

The AEM staff is committed to our mission of providing our members with quality service, expertise and support to promote our industry and address industry challenges. We have a great team in place, and I look forward to seeing what we will accomplish together on your behalf.
