What is disruptive innovation, and what does it have to do with the heavy equipment industry?
Industry executives and senior-level managers in attendance at the upcoming AEM/AED Forum: Drivers of the Industry event will have the opportunity to learn just that from disruptive innovation expert Luke Williams, who will keynote the three-day event slated for September 12-14 in Chicago, Illinois.
Williams will discuss how disruptive innovations -- innovations that introduce a new market and value network and eventually overtake an existing market and value network -- can ultimately render well-established and market-leading companies, products and services obsolete. He will also provide valuable insights into how equipment manufacturers and dealers can recognize these disruptive innovations and incorporate best practices for leveraging them to meet the needs of their respective businesses.
A leading consultant, educator and speaker specializing in disruptive innovation, Williams is the author of “Disrupt: Think the Unthinkable to Spark Transformation in Your Business.” For more than a decade, he has worked internationally with industry leaders such as American Express, GE, Sony, Crocs, Virgin, Disney and Hewlett-Packard to develop new products, services and brands. In addition, his views have been featured in Bloomberg Businessweek and Fast Company, as well as on National Public Radio (NPR).
Williams joined New York University Stern School of Business in September of 2012 as executive director of the W.R. Berkley Innovation Lab and clinical associate professor of marketing and entrepreneurship. He was previously an adjunct professor.
This year’s AEM/AED Forum: Drivers of the Industry event will be held at the Loews Chicago O'Hare Hotel.
The three-day event will afford manufacturers and dealers the opportunity to learn about government initiatives and legislation -- both at the state and federal level -- and what impacts they will have on the industry in the months and years ahead.
AEM members should visit the event registration page, click “Register for this event,” log in with their email address and password (if they have one), or click “New Visitor Registration” to register for the site. In addition, AEM has set up a coupon code for its members to register at the AED member rate. The code is: AEM17-EXEC.
