AEF database helps ag equipment manufacturers plug inLike the old-time village matchmaker – or one of the new mobile dating apps – the database developed by the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) helps buyers and sellers of agricultural equipment determine which products work best together.

With a few mouse clicks (or taps), an equipment end-user or dealer can configure a specific tractor-implement combination and immediately see if the chosen combination is ISOBUS compatible and which functions it offers.

This capability is critical for ag equipment manufacturers. Today’s products are often less about the iron than they are about the electronics. Providing end-users with immediate answers on tractor-implement compatibility can frequently influence equipment purchasing decisions.

Plugging In

The AEF helps manufacturers find solutions to compatibility problems through its twice-yearly Plugfest events. As the name implies, these events allow industry participants to “plug in” their electronics systems and test their compatibility with others.

The most recent Plugfest in Bologna, Italy, set a new attendance record with 140 participants testing a total of 125 products over a three-day period. With 42 time slots available at 54 testing stations, over 2,200 time slots are available for participants.

AEF membership is required for participant registration and applies to anyone who is directly or indirectly involved with testing activities. Visitor registration (both members and non-members) is available to those who are observing the activities and are not involved in testing.

There is much more to Plugfest as well, including a Conference Day that includes reports on AEF activities and its 11 project teams. Plugfest events alternate between Europe and the U.S. each fall and spring, respectively.

Next Event

The next Plugfest event, hosted by the Nebraska Tractor Test Lab, is scheduled for May 9-11, 2017 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska.
