Understanding the challenges, threats and opportunities construction equipment manufacturers and dealers will face in both the near and distant future is critical to their ability to maintain profitability and foster industry growth.

Executives and senior-level managers gathered at the AEM-AED Forum: Drivers of the Industry event in Rosemont, Illinois earlier this month to learn about and discuss what will influence and impact their businesses moving forward, and they also got a look at what’s new with rental, distribution, public policy, the economy and more.

Featured presenters at this year’s AEM-AED Forum included, among others:

  • Disruption innovation expert Luke Williams, who shared how taking resources available to a company and rearranging them through disruptive innovation can have a transformative impact on its bottom line.
  • McKinsey & Co.’s Inga Maurer, who outlined Industry 4.0 and shared how manufacturers and dealers can gain value from several cutting-edge trends, including machine connectivity, advanced analytics and automation.

Attendees also heard how manufacturers and dealers like them can distill massive amounts of telematics data into actionable points to support their customers, where the construction industry is at in the adoption curve for connected fleets, and what economic factors will influence success in the equipment market.
