2021 Goals and PrioritiesResilience: the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, toughness.

For me, this word best describes our industry and our path forward as we welcome a new year and put 2020 behind us.

Abraham Lincoln said, “the best way to predict the future is to create it,” and that’s exactly what our industry did last year as we faced uncertainty and adversity. When challenges arose, we created new solutions and approaches to doing things. Together we made our industry stronger, supported our communities and kept our employees safe.

I’m hopeful COVID-19 will soon be in the rearview mirror and the new year brings prosperity and accomplishment for us all. AEM is committed to walking with you every step of the way as we embrace the challenges ahead as we all lead and grow our businesses.

As we look ahead to this year and beyond, we are committed to building upon past accomplishments and executing a Strategic Plan that will ensure the long-term future of the Association. In doing so, we have realigned our goals to reflect the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and our focus to assist members and the equipment manufacturing industry.

These goals are:

  •  Building a positive perception of our industry
  •  Accelerating industry growth
  •  Supporting and empowering member company decision-making
  •  Facilitating members’ customer-facing efforts

We’re also setting our sights on 15 priorities to support our more than 1,000 member companies and the industry. These priority goal areas will guide our efforts to support and advocate on behalf of our members and our industry.

Our ability to achieve what we want to accomplish will come down to how successful we are at being a voice for our industry, how well we spread the message of equipment manufacturing’s role in making the equipment that builds our communities and feeds our world, and how effectively we communicate the industry’s contributions to the overall economic well-being of our country.

AEM’s organizational success has always come as a direct result of always asking what’s next for equipment manufacturers. Getting to where we want to never comes by taking the easy route, and in working together we can accomplish great things. AEM is committed to using its strong voice to support and advocate on behalf of our members and our industry. In addition, we will continue to exercise our leadership role in the industry to act as a unifying force on issues important to all of us.

So, with all that being said, please continue to stay engaged with AEM and encourage your colleagues to step up and volunteer, seek out advice and take advantage of our core services as part of your membership.

When the time is right, I look forward to seeing you at one of our events, or better yet, at our newly renovated Milwaukee office.

Best wishes to you for a successful 2021. Thank you for your membership and support.
