Established in June 2001 as the Vacuum Excavation Equipment Manufacturers Council and became a standing committee of the Underground Equipment Manufacturers Council in 2005.
The VEEC has developed a 35-page industry safety manual for vacuum excavator operating and maintenance personnel. The manual covers various subjects including preparation for operation, working safety, shutting down, loading/unloading and safety practices during maintenance.

The VEEC has published a chart listing the density of common materials, water ratios and the types of variables that can effect the volume of water required for excavation.
