Wheeler insertActing EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler met with AEM and industry leaders last week to discuss the importance of ethanol demand to the health of the agricultural equipment manufacturing industry.

On Thursday, Dec. 13, AEM President Dennis Slater, AEM staff, AEM Chair John Lagemann, and Ag Sector Board Members Bill Hurley and Bret Lieberman discussed with Administrator Wheeler about the EPA's actions related to the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) and how the year-round sale of E15, which is a higher octane fuel made up of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline, impacts tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs across the U.S.

Administer Wheeler appreciated the perspective AEM shared at the meeting and hopes to work with equipment manufacturers on the release of a permit for the year-round sale of E15. If implemented appropriately, the E15 rules can dramatically increase the demand for corn, lifting demand for many of the products AEM member companies manufacture.
