Nearly a dozen AEM staffers spent a portion of their Tuesday this week volunteering to collect U.S. flags at Woods National Cemetery in Milwaukee.

The flags are placed at each of the 38,000 gravestones at the cemetery in the days prior to Memorial Day to commemorate and honor the sacrifices made by veterans of the U.S. armed forces. For five years now, AEM has organized a group of employee volunteers to remove the flags for storage.

“It’s an opportunity to not only provide a service to our community, but also to honor the countless veterans who fought for our nation and made the ultimate sacrifice,” said AEM Human Resources Manager Allison Nieskes, who volunteered and helped organize this year's effort.
