CECA insertThe Construction Media Alliance, as part of its annual Editorial and Marketing Communications Awards, recognized AEM PR Manager Pat Monroe, and the CONEXPO-CON/AGG Social Team (Kate Huskin and Jordanne Waldschmidt) for 2019.

Monroe was honored with the first-ever “Engelbert Baum Industry Person of the Year Award.”  The award is named after Engelbert Baum, a longtime publisher and “titan of construction media” who passed away in August of 2018.

Monroe, who retired in December, was nominated by her colleagues at AEM, and seconded by longtime construction media editors including Greg Sitek, Marcia Gruver Doyle, and Mike Osenga.

“Pat was also willing to help marketers along the way, always had the best interest of the industry at heart and was a vital supporter of the Construction Media Alliance and its predecessor, the Construction Writer’s Association,” says Bill Elverman, volunteer, Construction Media Alliance and owner/vice president at PKA Marketing.

In recognition of the honor, the Construction Media Alliance and Baum Publications will each donate $500 ($1,000 total) to an industry program or charity of Monroe’s choosing.

Huskin and Waldschmidt were also recognized for “Best Social Media” for their extensive and impressive CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020 efforts. Their social media strategy, content and graphics drove engagement throughout 2019 with North America’s largest construction trade show, including new efforts around social media influencers, new video content, attendee-shared photos, an e-book, education content and more.

Huskin and Waldschmidt increased overall social media followers of the CONEXPO-CON/AGG channels more than 50 percent, more than doubled engagements, and generated at least 1,900 show registrations specifically from social media.
