AEM Senior Vice President for Government and Industry Relations Nick Yaksich was elected chairman of the national transportation research group TRIP for 2017.
Yaksich becomes the first public affairs executive to serve as TRIP’s chairman, and will be charged with leading the 45-year-old organization into a new era.
“I am honored to serve as the next chairman of TRIP, an organization that has done tremendous work over almost five decades of calling attention to our nation’s infrastructure needs,” Yaksich said. “My goal is to implement a new strategic plan for TRIP that positions this organization to adapt to a rapidly-changing news media.”
Will Wilkins, the executive director of TRIP, hailed Yaksich’s chairmanship.
“As our first chairman representing an industry association, Nick brings a fresh perspective to how to best position TRIP for a new generation of service,” Wilkins said.
Founded in 1971, TRIP is a private, nonprofit organization that researches, evaluates and distributes economic and technical data on surface transportation issues. It is based in Washington, D.C.
