Numerous AEM staffers spent a portion of their Tuesday this week volunteering to collect U.S. flags at nearby Woods National Cemetery in Milwaukee.

In the days leading up to Memorial Day, a flag is placed at each one of the 38,000-plus gravestones to honor the sacrifices made by veterans of the U.S. armed forces. This is the seventh year in which AEM has organized a group of employees to remove the flags for storage. The post-Memorial Day event had a record overall turnout according to cemetery volunteer organizers.

“AEM is consistently seeking out opportunities to serve our local Milwaukee community. This annual event provides an opportunity to honor the men and women who fought for our nation and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we have today,” said AEM Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Operations Judy Gaus, who volunteered and whose team organized this year’s effort.
