It is with deep regret that AEM notes the passing of industry leader and longtime Vermeer Corporation Chief Executive Officer Bob Vermeer.
Bob Vermeer served as Chair of the Equipment Manufacturers Institute (EMI) in 2001, prior to it joining with the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association (CIMA) to form AEM, and his longtime support and numerous contributions to the association led to him being named to the AEM Hall of Fame in 2016.
"Bob will always be remembered for his support of AEM, his contributions to our equipment manufacturing and his efforts to spur the growth, development and success of Vermeer into the industry-leading company it is today," said AEM President Megan Tanel. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
Joining Vermeer in 1974, Bob Vermeer held several roles aimed at advancing the long-term growth of the company, most notably Chief Executive Officer in 1989 and later Co-Chief Executive Officer in 2003 with his sister, and fellow AEM Hall-of-Famer, Mary Andringa. In addition, he served as Chair of the Board at the company from 1989 through 2014.
Bob Vermeer was also involved in a number of philanthropic endeavors during his tenure as President of the Vermeer Charitable Foundation, which served to improve the lives of people in communities throughout Iowa, across the United States and around the world.
Memorials in honor of Bob Vermeer may be designated to Faith CRC Building Project, the Well Resource Center and Pella Christian Schools.
