Paraguay's public works and communications ministry MOPC announced it has begun the process of reviewing the bids for Asunción's Silvio Pettirossi international airport upgrade project.

The modernization project will be the first public work to be awarded under a PPP arrangement in the country.

Last Thursday, three consortiums presented bids for the project.

The consortiums are Vinci Airports TOCSA, Aeropuerto Asunción Silvio Pettirossi CEDICOR - Caminos Viales del Uruguay, and Sacyr - Agunsa.

The Silvio Pettirossi project is a "major milestone" in the government's PPP-focused infrastructure development strategy, said MOPC's head Ramón Jiménez Gaona.

The technical review of the bids will last between 30 and 45 days.
