National Dairy MonthThis year we celebrate the 83rd National Dairy Month. Beginning back in 1937, it was meant to promote the use of dairy products all throughout the United States. Since then the industry has changed in a number of ways. Fast forward to today, and we are more technologically advanced and producing more milk than ever.

In the U.S., we produced over 218 billion pounds of milk in 2019, compared to about 294 million in 1937 when National Dairy Month first began. AEM member companies manufacture a number of technologies that have helped to move this forward with things like herd management technology all the way to autonomous milking equipment and everything in between.

However, 2020 is a little different than most. The industry faces one of the most difficult years on record. For the first time for many of this generation of farmer’s lives they were forced to dump milk due to the ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic. In times like these, it’s more important than ever to band together and support one another. That’s why National Dairy Month carries a little extra weight this year. It’s an opportunity for us to all show our support for the men and women of the dairy industry that need us now more than ever.

AEM offers a number of programs that are aimed towards helping the dairy industry. These include, but are not limited to:

With the spread of COVID-19, celebrating may seem difficult this year. However, there are still a number of ways to take advantage and celebrate your favorite dairy products and dairy farmers everywhere. Some ways include:
