The future of underground utility damage prevention will be the focus of The Jobsite 2023, presented by Planet Underground, a peer-to-peer educational learning and networking event featuring the cutting-edge technology and transformative processes poised to impact underground utilities and utility contractors and the future of their work.
Continuous hands-on demonstrations and scheduled educational events will comprise The Jobsite 2023 at The Utility Expo, which is set for Sept. 26-28, 2023, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky. AEM, which owns The Utility Expo, is helping to spread the word about the importance of damage prevention and how equipment can play an important role in protecting buried facilities.
Two years ago, at The Utility Expo 2021, The Jobsite saw utility providers work collaboratively to safely install 900’ of 2” pipe and conduit. The infrastructure buried at that event laid the groundwork for this year’s iteration, which will once again feature underground utility service providers and the equipment designed to ensure they can go about their jobs efficiently, effectively and safely.
The Jobsite 2023, Mapping the Future of Damage Prevention, is set to consist of scheduled educational events at five themed stations. The themes are:
- Mapping
- One call
- Locating
- Vacuum excavation (potholing)
- Construction
Specific educational topics will include electromagnetic (EM) locating, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), underground RFID marking devices, conduit mapping tools, Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), vacuum excavation practices, stakeholder coordination, predictive analytics software, One call software, pre-excavation construction software, utility mapping tools, utility design software and GIS mobile applications.
The Jobsite 2023 established a goal to assemble the technology and procedural advancements poised to lessen the likelihood of underground utility strikes, all in one place and at one time.
