Susanne Cobey

CEO / Eagle Crusher Company, Inc.

Susanne Cobey

Susanne Cobey is a 1973 graduate of the University of Denver with a BS/BA, majoring in Finance and Economics with a minor in Accounting.

Susanne began her business career as the first female junior executive at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, as a Financial Analyst. This was the very first time the company had employed a female for any position, other than as a secretary. Working for Ford Motor Company was ironic, since Susanne as a child would tell everyone that she planned to be President of GM because it was the biggest company she knew.

Susanne then joined Eagle Crusher Company in Galion, Ohio as their Parts Manager, advancing through the company to become the Equipment Sales Manager, then Vice President of Sales & Finance, before finally taking the helm as President/CEO in 1990.

Up to the early 1980s, Eagle was a very small manufacturer of aggregate and coal crushing equipment for quarries and mining. The demise of the strip coal mining market in 1983 left the company struggling. In 1984, Susanne refocused the company into an unserved industry, in the U.S., by starting the commercial recycling industry for asphalt and concrete with rebar, utilizing an uniquely designed impactor imported from Germany. In 1994, she directed Eagle to design the Ultramax  impactor with a three bar, solid steel, sculptured rotor. This rotor was a revolutionary change for primary/secondary impactors. Since Eagle's entry into this market, using this unique impactor, the concrete and asphalt recycling industry has, exponentially, grown worldwide.

Eagle, a family owned company, has become the world leader in the manufacture of portable recycling systems for concrete with rebar, asphalt and C&D. Eagle’s line of aggregate products including jaws, impactors, feeders, screens and conveyors enabling Eagle to offer a strong line of equipment for almost any application.

Eagle is constantly innovating and developing new equipment to ensure their customers have the most advanced, high performance, low operating cost crushers with continued engineering and 24-hour service support. Eagle calls itself Team Eagle® because once the customer owns the equipment, they are treated as part of the Team Eagle Family™.

In 1990, Susanne purchased Stedman Machine in Aurora, Indiana, a manufacturer of crushing equipment for the aggregate and industrial processing industry, and in 2001 she started the engineering design firm Innovative Processing Solutions for developing and designing stationary processing systems for industrial and aggregate markets.

Through the years, Susanne has been awarded the Excellence in Enterprise award in the category of manufacturing by the Ohio Department of Development; has been a speaker at the INC Growing the Company Conference regarding development of strategic growth plans; participated in the Forbes President’s Forum for Emerging & Middle-Market Companies; the subject of “Profiles in Success” article in Columbus CEO magazine; a presenter at Kaleidoscope Women’s Conference regarding the battle of breaking tradition; awarded the Ontario Global Traders Provincial Partnership award for excellence in exporting; profiled in an Ohio Magazine article; and been the keynote speaker at several college commencement ceremonies.
