Accounting Intern
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) is hiring an Accounting Intern! We are seeking a highly motived team player interested in providing exceptional support to our accounting department. The duration of this internship runs through December 2026 at 15-20 hours per week, in person, during business hours.
Responsibilities include: 
  • Assist with accounts payable processing, including invoice entry, coding, and documentation review and filing
  • Maintain and track fixed assets, including recording additions, disposals, and assisting with depreciation schedules
  • Prepare and assist with monthly account reconciliations and journal entries as part of the close process
  • Assist with providing budget owners with reports related to budget-to-actual results, including departmental and program-level activity
  • Support our accounting system transition from Dynamics GP to Business Central and process improvement efforts, including supporting workflow efficiencies, and data accuracy initiatives
This internship will provide any individual pursuing a career in accounting, finance, or related fields an opportunity to gain a broader perspective on not-for-profit accounting within an association by assisting with day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and process improvement. Upon completion of the internship, the individual will have gained the following skills and competencies.  
  • Hands-on experience with accounting, specifically within the Accounts Payable function 
  • Learn the fundamentals of fixed asset accounting
  • Develop a working understanding of the month-end close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
  • Experience working with ERP/accounting systems and financial tools, including data entry standards, reporting functionality, and system-based controls
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, learning how to evaluate existing workflows and recommend efficiencies aligned with AEM’s continuous improvement mindset
  • Exposure to how finance supports organizational priorities and leadership with budget vs. actual reports
In addition to receiving firsthand experience working with members and exhibitors for a large international association, AEM provides additional training and development opportunities for interns.
