Robert Gilmore LeTourneau

R.G. LeTourneau built the first all-welded scraper. The new machine proved to be lighter, stronger and less expensive than the current riveted models. While most known for his achievements in scraper technology, R.G. was also responsible for the development of the sheepsfoot roller, tournacranes and the rooter or ripper, to name a few. In all, he held more than 200 patents and accounted for more "firsts" in the earthmoving industry than any other man. LeTourneau was a man of vision who helped change earthmoving methods all over the world.
