Geospatial Industry Group (GIG)
The Geospatial Industries Group (GIG) provides a forum for member companies to report market statistics and collaborate on issues affecting the geospatial technology industry. The group works to advance the interests of manufacturers and technology providers operating in this rapidly evolving sector while supporting accurate and meaningful industry data.
GIG reporting encompasses a broad range of geospatial technologies used for surveying, mapping, positioning, machine guidance and control, data collection, and three-dimensional measurement and imaging. Product categories include surveying instruments, GNSS/GPS positioning technologies, data collection systems, machine control solutions, laser scanning equipment, and other geospatial measurement technologies used across construction, agriculture, infrastructure, mapping, and related industries.
Unlike many statistics committees that originated within AEM, GIG was developed under a predecessor organization and was later incorporated into AEM’s Market Share Statistics Program. The group continues to provide a dedicated forum for geospatial industry manufacturers while maintaining established reporting programs and industry relationships. GIG reports under programs spanning North America (US and Canada), Latin America, and other Global regions.

*GIG reporting programs are designed for equipment manufacturers. Participating companies must manufacture the products being reported and provide timely, accurate data to support the development of industry market share statistics. Committee members are expected to comply with established reporting definitions, policies, and procedures to ensure data consistency and integrity.
