Representatives from AEM, Weiler, and Iveco Group met with leadership from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) on July 29 in Sacramento to discuss the future of off-road equipment emissions policy, emerging technologies, and opportunities for continued collaboration between regulators and manufacturers. The meeting reflected AEM's ongoing commitment to engaging policymakers on issues that impact equipment manufacturing, innovation, and environmental progress.
The discussion provided an opportunity for AEM members to share perspectives on the significant investments manufacturers are making to meet emissions targets, improve efficiency, and advance a broad range of innovative equipment and engine technologies. Participants emphasized the significant investments manufacturers make to comply with evolving emissions regulations and the importance of providing clear, predictable policy pathways for future product development and innovation.
“Industry and regulators share the same objective: reducing emissions while maintaining productivity, affordability, and economic competitiveness,” said Nicholas Rudowich, director of state affairs at AEM. “We look forward to continued dialogue with CARB about how to achieve emissions reduction goals in a way that is practical, durable, and effective.”
The meeting also included a discussion on the future regulatory landscape and the role policymakers can play in supporting continued progress on emissions reductions. Participants exchanged perspectives on emerging policy considerations and emphasized the value of early engagement between regulators and manufacturers as California evaluates future emissions requirements, incentive programs, and other initiatives that may influence the direction of the n equipment manufacturing industry.
Earlier this year, AEM hosted officials from CARB at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas. During the visit, CARB officials visited exhibits from Kubota, John Deere, Caterpillar, and Komatsu.
AEM appreciated the opportunity to meet directly with CARB leadership and engage in a constructive discussion on the future of emissions policy and equipment technology. The roundtable reflected a shared interest in continued collaboration and productive dialogue as manufacturers, regulators, and other stakeholders work toward common environmental goals. AEM looks forward to continuing these conversations and supporting policies that encourage innovation, provide regulatory clarity, and deliver achievable environmental progress.
